Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga has pleaded not guilty to a sexual assault charge after prosecutors in Norway filed a case against him.

According to Johannes Gustavsen of TV2, the Nordmøre and Romsdal District Court has scheduled the hearing for March 2026. Daga’s attorney, Astrid Bolstad, stated that while Daga acknowledges a sexual encounter occurred, he insists it was consensual and denies committing any criminal act. Bolstad also highlighted that there are no claims of violence or threats associated with the case.

Molde FK has confirmed that the club will not provide further comments while the legal proceedings continue.

The young talent featured for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles during the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where the team exited in the second round following a 4–0 loss to Argentina. Since joining Molde in January 2025, Daga has become a regular presence for the club, accumulating 18 appearances across both the Norwegian league and the Europa Conference League
