According to ESPN, Spain's highest court has upheld the appeal of former Barcelona defender, Dani Alves, in a tax fraud case.

According to a court decision, the Spanish tax service will be forced to return 3.2 million euros to the star Brazilian footballer.

The representatives of Dani Alves have filed an appeal against the sentence handed down by the Administrative Court of Madrid. It stated that the footballer had in fact submitted a correct tax return for royalty income during his time with Barcelona in the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 seasons.

It is reasonable to mention that the tax investigation into Alves began back in 2014. Then the investigation considered that the football player was carrying out fraud to reduce tax payments. It later became known that in 2008, Alves transferred the rights to his image to Cedro Sports for 1.6 million euros, and in the same year he signed a contract with Barcelona.

At the moment, the 40-year-old footballer is behind bars, where he was accused of violence against a girl in Barcelona. The footballer is now awaiting a court decision.
