Daily Weekend. Post-match fight in Turkey, Inter didn't win in Serie A for the first time in a year

Last weekend was marked by the last championship games before the football matches, but there was a lot to see in other sports too. Dailysports offers you to refresh your memory of the most colourful sporting events of the weekend.

Biathlon season is officially over

This past weekend marked the end of the 2023-2024 biathlon season. The ninth and final race of the Biathlon World Cup took place in Canmore, Canada, to determine the winners of the Grand Crystal Globe and the winners of the Nations Cup standings.

The best biathlete and biathlete of the already past season were Johannes Bø from Norway and Lisa Vitozzi from Italy respectively. While for the Norwegian the triumph was the fifth in his career and the second in a row, the Italian became the best for the first time in her performances.

The start of the biathlon season 2024-2025 is scheduled for 30 November with a stage in Kontiolahti, Finland. During it, like the previous campaign, there will be nine World Cup rounds and the World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, from 12 to 23 February. The last World Cup round will be held in Holmenkollen, Norway, from 21-23 March 2025.

Tottenham lost highly defeated for the first time in 2.5 years

In 2024, Tottenham are not exactly showing consistent form, alternating wins with draws and defeats. By the Premier League match with Fulham, Spurs were on a two-match winning streak and intended to extend it. But, not everything went according to the plan of Ange Postecoglou. Or rather, things did not go according to the plan of the Tottenham coach.

His team lost 0:3. And if in the previous defeat to Wolverhampton on 17 February with a score of 1-2 there was nothing outstanding, the defeat at the hands of holidaymakers went down in history. In addition to the English league matches, the Cup quarter-finals were also played last weekend, with Manchester United and Liverpool meeting at Old Trafford.

Total carnage in a Turkish league match

The Turkish Super League game between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe ended scandalously, with the visitors winning 3-2 thanks to an 87th-minute goal. The Canaries' players decided to celebrate the willful three points right on the pitch, but soon regretted their decision. Trabzonspor fans ran onto the pitch in anger and attacked the Fenerbahçe players.

Some, such as Michy Batshuayi and Osai Samuel, decided to fight off the fans with hand-to-hand combat, but most of them ran into the stands to escape the anger of the crowd.

Inter did not win Serie A for the first time in 2024

Inter have had an extraordinary streak in all competitions this year, coming into the Champions League 1/8 final return leg against Atlético with a streak of 13 wins in a row, winning all their matches. But it seems that Simone Inzaghi's team left all their energies in Madrid, although they flew out of the European Cup after a series of post-match kicks.

Kane broke a Bundesliga record that had stood for 60 years

A seemingly eternal record was set by legendary forward Uwe Seeler in the 1963/1964 Bundesliga season when he scored 30 goals in his debut season in the German league. This record stood for 60 years, and it was broken by Harry Kane.

In the match against Darmstadt, the Englishman scored a goal, which became for him the 31st in the current season of the Bundesliga. Thus, the Bayern forward broke not only Seeler's record, but also surpassed his goal-scoring record for the season. Previously, Kane himself had not scored more than 30 goals in a season.

Atlético lost at home for the first time in 25 matches

Another incredible series broke last weekend, but already in the Spanish championship. Atlético Madrid approached the game against Barcelona with a 25-match unbeaten streak at home (23 wins and 2 draws), but the Catalan team ran over the Los Colchoneros 3-0 away and broke Diego Simeone's team's streak of playing without defeat at home.

Ironically, the last time Atlético lost at the Wanda Metropolitano was in January 2023, and it was Barcelona who inflicted that defeat.
