Last weekend we found out the winner of yet another trophy in the top European leagues and saw many matches that bring us closer to the end of the championship race. It's been an eventful weekend in the world of football and Dailysports brings you everything you might have missed.

The winner of the first trophy in the current season of Spanish football has been determined

The Spanish Cup final became quite a surprise already at the end of February, when we learned the names of those who will compete for the trophy in Seville on 6 April - Athletic Bilbao and Mallorca.

Both teams have been without the trophy for quite some time: the islanders last won the Spanish Cup back in 2003, but the expectation of the Basques was much greater.

They have not raised this trophy over their heads since 1984, so the desire of each team to win the cup of honour was prohibitive. Footballers were not going to give up the title for nothing, so after the teams exchanged goals by 50 minutes, they left the fate of the game to a penalty shootout.

Atletico's players were more accurate and they won the first trophy in the club's history for 40 years, and they will represent Spain next season at least in the Europa League, as the Basques have a very good chance of qualifying for the Champions League through the championship.

Manchester United remain unbeaten in matches against Liverpool this season

Sunday's match at Old Trafford featured one of the most high-profile signings in English football. Despite the positions of the teams in the championship, the face-to-face meeting between Manchester United and Liverpool will always attract spectators.

However, in the first half of Sunday's match the game seemed attractive only for the fans of the Merseysiders, because the home team did not make a single strike on the opponent's goal. But that didn't stop Erik ten Hag's team from turning the game around in the second half and even taking the lead.

Liverpool managed to save themselves from defeat, which would have been painful in the race for the championship, thanks to a penalty (the very fact of which raises very big questions for Anthony Taylor and his assistants from the BAR stall) in the 82nd minute, which set the final score of the match - a 2-2 draw. Remarkably, the teams met for the third time this season and in none of them Jürgen Klopp's wards failed to win.

In both Premier League matches there was a draw, just like in the main time of the recent FA Cup game, but there the Red Devils managed to snatch a trip to the next stage in extra-time.

Mayhem in the main match of Dutch football

Ajax Amsterdam are going through a bad time this season and the apotheosis of all the problems of the team was Sunday's match against Feyenoord, which is considered one of the main matches in Dutch football. The game, which ended in a 6-0 defeat for the team from Rotterdam, will certainly go down in history.

Firstly, this match for Ajax was the biggest defeat in De Klassiker. Secondly, if you take all the losses of the Amsterdam team, this game was the biggest defeat in the last hundred years.

Also at the end of the match, Ajax dropped to sixth place, which may be the worst result of the team in the 21st century and the second worst ever. The only time the Amsterdam side finished worse was in the 1964/1965 season, when the team finished in 13th place in the Eredivisie.

Germany could have a champion as early as this week

The championship race in the German Bundesliga is approaching its denouement, which could happen as early as mid-April. Bayer are rushing towards the "silver salad bowl", and Bayern Munich are helping the "pharmacists" with this.

The reigning champion has lost two matches in a row, and if the 0:2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund can still be explained somehow, how to explain the 2:3 defeat to Handenheim, when Bayern led 2:0 after the first half?

Bayer won their match against Union 1-0, which increased Xabi Alonso's side's lead over the record holders to 16 points with six rounds to go. And next weekend will be very interesting, as Bayer will become champions as early as 14 April if they beat Werder and Bayern defeat Cologne.

Fenerbahçe scandal gathers momentum

Turkish Fenerbahçe continues to make the media headlines for not the most pleasant of reasons. Events after the game with Trabzonspor, which was marked by a huge beating (including the Canaries' players), are dramatising rather quickly.

On Sunday, the Turkish Super Cup between Fenerbahçe and Galatasar, which failed to be played at the end of December last year in Saudi Arabia due to the Mustafa Kemal Atatürk bannering scandal, was scheduled to be played at the second attempt, but the match could not be played now either.

The teams took to the pitch, Galatasaray opened the scoring in the first minute, but Fenerbahçe, who came to the game with an under-19 squad, left the pitch in protest and the game was not played as such, as the Canaries were awarded a technical defeat.

Their opponents were not confused and instead of simply leaving the stadium in Şanliurfa, Turkey, celebrated the victory with their fans and then sparred with their reserve team.

Messi marked his return to the Inter Miami line-up with a goal

Inter Miami has had to do without Lionel Messi for the last four matches as he recovered from injury. For the MLS regular season game against Colorado Rapids, the Argentine was also not in the starting lineup, but was on the bench.

Despite this fact, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner managed to help his team. Messi came on the pitch after the break when the team was losing 0-1, and 13 minutes later he put his name on the scoreboard, levelling the score.

Inter soon took the lead, but after Colorado's goal in the 88th minute, the Herons had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
