Cummins close to return: Sunrisers Hyderabad captain set for IPL comeback date
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins has left the team’s training camp ahead of IPL 2026 and traveled home for a final medical assessment on his injured back.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the check-up is routine and will be conducted under the supervision of Cricket Australia. Cummins departed India after SRH’s last match against the Kolkata Knight Riders and is expected to rejoin the squad on April 17—pending clearance from the Australian cricket board.
Earlier, Cummins himself noted that he hopes to link up with the team in the second half of the tournament. Since arriving at the SRH camp, he continued training, including working on his bowling preparation ahead of the season’s opening matches.
It’s worth remembering that Cummins hasn’t played competitive cricket since July last year, with his only appearance in that stretch coming in the third Ashes Test in December. Up next, Sunrisers Hyderabad are set to face Lucknow Super Giants at home in Hyderabad this Sunday.
