Crystal Palace's Pursuit of Senegalese star Malick Diouf Faces Major Roadblocks
El Hadji Malick Diouf, the Senegalese star of Slavia Prague, has emerged as one of the most sought-after players this winter, and Crystal Palace is at the front of the battle to sign him. However, the Czech champions have said unequivocally that they would not accept less than €25 million for the 20-year-old left wing-back.
Crystal Palace recently had a €15 million bid rejected, as Slavia aims to set a new Czech football transfer record. The club, already bolstered by a €16 million sale of goalkeeper Kinský to Tottenham, is under no financial pressure to sell. Diouf, under contract until 2028, has no release clause, giving Slavia further leverage in negotiations.
Diouf’s performances this season have been stellar, with 6 goals and 3 assists in 26 matches, marking him as a standout in the Czech league. Despite interest from several Premier League clubs, including Palace, Slavia remains steadfast in their valuation.
Palace may yet make a better offer because they need reinforcements at left wing-back, but for now, the Eagles will have strong opposition. It is probable that Diouf will go, either this summer or during the transfer window, but only at Slavia's expense.
