Crystal Palace to demolish 101-year-old stand: Selhurst Park redevelopment set for January 2026
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has officially announced live on talkSPORT that the long-awaited Selhurst Park redevelopment will kick off in January 2026. The club executive confirmed that construction of the new main stand, with a capacity of around 13,500 spectators, is finally set to begin.
Previously, the club had to overcome a number of difficult hurdles—from purchasing six houses on Wooderson Close to resolving issues with the plot next to Sainsbury’s on Whitehorse Lane. Now, all obstacles have been cleared.
It's worth noting that the Eagles have played at this stadium since 1924 and first considered redevelopment after their promotion to the Premier League in 2013. Expansion plans were unveiled eight years ago, but the project was repeatedly delayed and its estimated cost has nearly doubled—from the original £75–100 million to the current £150 million. The main stand, which has stood for almost 101 years, will be completely demolished and rebuilt.
