Crystal Palace and Mateta to discuss potential knee surgery

Striker Jean-Philippe Mateta was close to completing a move to Milan, but the transfer collapsed due to an injury discovered during medical checks.

Details: As reported by insider Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace and Mateta are currently considering the situation and will soon decide whether the player requires knee surgery. A decision is expected to be made soon, with the World Cup only a few months away.

We previously reported that medical examinations revealed Mateta has a knee injury and requires surgery. If the operation does go ahead, Mateta would be sidelined for three to four months.

We previously reported that Milan had reached an agreement with the 28-year-old Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta on personal terms.

Reminder: This season, Mateta has made 34 appearances for Crystal Palace, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists. His current contract runs until the summer of 2027.
