Cruz Azul’s Multi-Million Claim Revealed After Anselmi’s Exit to Porto
The departure of Martín Anselmi from Cruz Azul to FC Porto not only caused surprise but also sparked a legal battle that has now become public.
This Monday, the full content of the complaint filed by the Mexican club with FIFA against their former Argentine coach was revealed, alleging that he unilaterally terminated his contract without any financial compensation.
According to the document, Anselmi left "without any explanation," prompting the club to claim a hefty financial compensation.
According to information published by FlashScore, Cruz Azul demands five million dollars (plus taxes) from FC Porto as a release clause. If FIFA does not approve this payment, the club requests at least 3.4 million, corresponding to Anselmi's remaining contract salary.
The 43-page document reveals that the Portuguese club first offered 1.5 million and then three million in two payments, proposals rejected by the Mexican management.
The FIFA ruling could be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
