In an appearance on The LineUp program, Van der Vaart described Ronaldo as a very selfish player, even admitting that the Portuguese star would get upset if his team won but he did not score in a match.

Ronaldo took to Instagram, commenting on a post about Van der Vaart's remarks with a cheeky "Who is that guy?" It seems Cristiano didn't take too kindly to the comments made by the Dutchman.

Van der Vaart also joked in the interview that he "never saw Ronaldo's penis," because they never crossed paths in the team shower. He explained this was because Ronaldo always arrived at training first and left last.

During his career, Van der Vaart played for top clubs like Ajax, Real Madrid, Hamburg, Tottenham, and Real Betis. He was considered a very talented player and won the Golden Boy award in 2003. He also helped the Netherlands to a silver medal at the 2010 World Cup.
