Cristian “Cheka” Hernández Leaves Antigua GFC After Winning Title
Cristian “Cheka” Hernández has officially ended his time at Antigua GFC, following the club’s recent triumph in the 2025 Clausura of Guatemala’s Liga Nacional. As reported by Diario San Rafael, the Argentine midfielder bid farewell after three successful seasons capped by a fifth league title for the historic side.
“Time to say goodbye to what was our home for the last three years,” Hernández wrote on social media. “I’m deeply grateful to everyone at the club and to the fans for the incredible support.”
The club honored him with a heartfelt message: “Three years of fight and commitment. Thank you for your football, professionalism, and every moment shared. Your mark remains in our history and the hearts of our fans.”
Hernández joined Antigua in mid-2022 but had already made a name for himself in Guatemalan football with stints at Sanarate, Comunicaciones, and Iztapa. In 2020, he also played briefly for Pérez Zeledón in Costa Rica.
A product of Huracán de San Rafael in Argentina, the 29-year-old midfielder became a key figure in Antigua’s recent campaigns. With his time in Guatemala coming to a close, his next destination remains to be seen as he looks ahead to a new challenge.
