CR Belouizdad made history by beating Al Ahly 1-0 in the fourth round of Group C in the CAF Champions League. Naoufel Khacef scored the winning goal in the 91st minute after Mohamed El Shenawy saved a shot, and Khacef got the rebound.
Belouizdad's 6-1 setback in the previous round is made up for with this victory, which is their first over Al Ahly in six games. The Algerian squad, captained by coach Abdelkader Amrani, now has six points and is in second position in Group C after this victory. Al Ahly, who are still first with 7 points, lost for the first time in 27 Champions League games.
Both teams were fighting for possession of the midfield at the start of the game. Wessam Abou Ali gave Al Ahly an early opportunity with a free kick that just missed the mark. Belouizdad's response included many risky attempts and a score that was disallowed for offside.
In the second half, Belouizdad pushed harder and created many chances, but they couldn’t score until Khacef’s late goal saved the day. Even though Al Ahly brought in important players like Akram Tawfik and Mohamed Magdy "Afsha," they couldn’t score to tie the game.
This result has a big impact on Group C, showing Belouizdad’s comeback and stopping Al Ahly’s strong run. The win not only improves Belouizdad’s chances of reaching the quarterfinals but also boosts the team’s confidence for the next matches in the group stage.
