CPL Week 9 Recap: Cavalry flying, Halifax on top, and Forge still unbeaten

Cavalry FC continued their red-hot May with another dominant 4-0 win, this time over Valour. Tobias Warschewski starred again with a goal and assist, backed by Camargo and Musse in a second-half surge that puts them third, just four points off the top. Valour impressed early but failed to capitalize on their chances and paid the price.
Forge FC remain the CPL’s only unbeaten team after Hoce Massunda’s stunning late goal sealed a 1-0 away win at Pacific. It was a cagey match, but Forge’s depth again made the difference, keeping them level on points with Cavalry and just behind the leaders.
Speaking of leaders, Halifax Wanderers rose to the top with a commanding 2-0 win over previously unbeaten Atlético Ottawa. Meilleur-Giguère and Coimbra sealed the result in the second half, while Johnston and Callegari dominated midfield. Ottawa failed to register a single shot on target.
Meanwhile, York United ended a six-match winless streak with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Vancouver FC thanks to Julian Altobelli’s sixth goal of the season. Vancouver dominated possession but couldn't convert, firing blanks in a frustrating second half.
Up next: Halifax faces York in Quebec City, Forge hosts Cavalry in a heavyweight clash, and Pacific travels to Valour.
