Court in Maradona's death case: police reveal details of body discovery
On the third day of the trial concerning Diego Maradona's death, four police officers who were the first to arrive at the star's house in the gated community of San Andres on November 25, 2020, testified.
The officers described the scene where they discovered the body and highlighted the absence of a defibrillator at the site, which raises suspicions of inadequate medical care.
Commissioner Lucas Borge, who led the operation, stated that he received a call about Maradona's discomfort and, upon arriving at the house, found him "lying covered with a sheet, with a severely bloated abdomen," as reported by the newspaper Olé.
Additionally, he confirmed that the bed he was on was not a hospital bed.
The trial seeks to determine whether the accused, including personal doctor Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, are guilty of simple homicide with eventual intent, a crime that can carry up to 25 years in prison.
The prosecution claims Maradona did not receive proper medical care, while the defense argues his family accepted the treatment conditions.
