The President of the Barcelona football club, Joan Laporta, commented for the first time on the decision of the European Court regarding the European Super League.
As you know, the court ruled that UEFA and FIFA did not have the right to prohibit the creation of this tournament, as they violated competition laws.
Laporte said he welcomed the decision as it would now give clubs more control over their future.
Barcelona will not compete against the Spanish La Liga or domestic leagues. It seems to me that European competition and more resources will enable national leagues to become more sustainable and competitive," he told Marca.
The head of the Catalan club also expressed hope that an open and constructive dialogue will take place to create synergy between all parties.
“We now have a historic opportunity to solve some serious problems that have become a threat to most clubs,” he concluded.
