Corinthians Target Carlos Vinícius Despite Year-Long Goal Drought Corinthians Target Carlos Vinícius Despite Year-Long Goal Drought

Carlos Vinícius is on Corinthians’ radar as the São Paulo club explores options for the upcoming transfer window, R7.com reported. The 30-year-old striker, who recently ended his contract with Fulham, hasn’t scored a goal since March 17, 2024—his last while on loan at Galatasaray.

The Brazilian forward has had stints across Europe, featuring for clubs like Benfica, Tottenham, PSV, and Monaco. But his recent form raises questions: he played only four matches for Fulham last season and failed to find the net. Despite this, Vinícius is reportedly enthusiastic about returning to Brazil and playing for a historic club like Corinthians, even offering to lower his salary to make the deal viable.

Corinthians, however, are primarily focused on signing wingers, though they remain open to strategic opportunities in the market. So far, the club has made just one signing for the current season—left-back Fabrizio Angileri. Talks for Sporting’s Biel have been shelved, and no other deal appears close.

Vinícius began his career in the youth ranks of Santos and Palmeiras before heading to Europe in 2017. The transfer window opens this Thursday, July 10, and Corinthians will be under pressure to reinforce an attack still looking for firepower.
