UFC star Conor McGregor has become embroiled in a scandal, as a civil lawsuit accusing him of rape has been filed against him.

According to The Sun, the lawsuit was filed by hairdresser Nikita Ní Laimhin against McGregor and another man, James Lawrence. Ní Laimhin claims that McGregor and Lawrence sexually assaulted her. The incident allegedly took place on December 9, 2018, in a penthouse at the Beacon Hotel in Dublin.

Ní Laimhin also reported physical aggression, stating that McGregor restrained her with a chokehold, leaving her with multiple bruises and abrasions.

“I tried to convince him that I didn’t want this. I didn’t want to have sex. He simply wouldn’t accept ‘no’ as an answer. Then he pinned me to the bed,” the alleged victim stated.

Following the incident, Ní Laimhin says she had to end her relationship with her partner and leave her job as a hairdresser due to ensuing mental health challenges. She also had to stop her sessions with a psychologist because she could no longer afford them.

Her initial police report in August 2020 was dismissed by the Attorney General due to insufficient evidence, which prevented a criminal conviction from being pursued.

Previously, McGregor’s lawyers submitted a statement to the court asserting that the encounter between their client and Ní Laimhin was consensual.
