Confirmed: Victor Boniface stays in Leverkusen
Al-Nassr was close to finalizing the transfer of Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán after initially pursuing Victor Boniface. However, the Nigerian forward will remain in Germany.
Details: Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has confirmed that Boniface will not be moving to Saudi Arabia and will stay with the Bundesliga leaders.
Quote: "There were negotiations, but we are happy that he is training with us today. I assume he will stay. He feels comfortable here, and his attitude towards the club has not changed," Rolfes stated.
Al-Nassr will pay €75 million plus bonuses for Jhon Durán. The 21-year-old striker will sign a contract until the summer of 2030, with an annual salary of €20 million.
Reminder: The Nigerian striker’s contract was quietly extended for another season. However, Bayer Leverkusen is still open to considering his sale if a lucrative offer comes in. The club values the player at no less than €50 million.
