The UFC 308 tournament has ended. It took place at the Etihad Arena, located on Yas Island (the so-called “UFC Fight Island”), near the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi.

The main event featured a featherweight title showdown between reigning champion Ilia Topuria from Spain and former BMF titleholder Max Holloway from the United States.

The champion opened the fight with a commanding performance, seizing the initiative in the first round, though Holloway adeptly evaded many of his strikes. By the second round, Topuria found his rhythm, landing increasingly precise shots, but Holloway responded with counterattacks, remaining resilient.

Midway through the third round, Topuria connected with a powerful right hand, staggering the American, who attempted to retreat. The Spaniard pursued with unrelenting pressure, ultimately landing a decisive blow that floored Holloway. Topuria moved in to secure the finish, prompting the referee to stop the fight and declare a victory by knockout.

This marked Topuria’s first title defense since claiming the belt by knocking out Alex Volkanovski in February.

Before this fight, Holloway was on a three-fight winning streak, most recently earning a knockout victory over Justin Gaethje in a lightweight bout at UFC 300 in April.

The co-main event saw middleweight champion Robert Whittaker of Australia face Khamzat Chimaev, representing the UAE.

Chimaev wasted no time, immediately charging in and securing a takedown against the cage. Whittaker showcased stout defense, but Chimaev eventually secured an advantageous position, applying a face crank from behind. The Australian had no choice but to tap, signaling Chimaev’s victory by submission.
