After a four-week break, Formula 1 has returned, with the Dutch Grand Prix marking the first event following the short hiatus. While the race is set to take place tomorrow, today is reserved for the qualifying session.

However, the drivers participated in a practice session earlier, which ended prematurely due to an unfortunate incident. During the session, Williams driver Logan Sargeant lost control of his car on the wet track while exiting the banked third corner. He crashed heavily into the barriers, causing his car to spin 270 degrees. The crash resulted in the right rear wheel detaching from the car, and the rear end subsequently burst into flames.

His teammate, George Russell, immediately stopped near the crash site and gestured for Sargeant to exit the vehicle. Meanwhile, Williams race engineer Gaetano Iago was urging the driver over the radio to do the same. He transmitted the following message:

"The car's on fire. Jump out. The car's on fire."

After Sargeant safely exited the vehicle, fire marshals arrived to extinguish the blaze. The driver was taken to the medical center, and according to his team, he is in good condition.

"Logan was in the medical center, and he is okay."

Sargeant's car was towed off the track, and it seems unlikely that repairs will be completed in time for today's qualifying session, scheduled for 15:00 CET. Meanwhile, the marshals worked on repairing the damaged barrier in an effort to resume the third practice session.
