Colombia vs Peru: Date and Time Changed for World Cup Qualifier
Colombia is facing mounting pressure in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers, and their next match against Peru now comes with a scheduling update. Originally set for Thursday, June 5, the fixture has been moved to Friday, June 6, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. local time. The change is reportedly linked to commercial interests aimed at boosting TV ratings.
After four matches without a win—three losses and one draw—head coach Néstor Lorenzo will reportedly meet with Colombian Football Federation officials this week to discuss the team’s poor form. Despite a concerning slump, Colombia still holds sixth place in the standings with 20 points and a +4 goal differential, good enough for a direct qualification spot. But the race remains tight with only four games left.
Following the Peru match, Colombia is set to travel to Argentina, host Bolivia in September, and close the campaign with a visit to Venezuela. The pressure is on to secure points and ensure qualification doesn’t slip away. The rescheduled home fixture against Peru will be crucial to keeping those hopes alive.
