Colo Colo Sets Departure Date for Lucas Cepeda Amid Intense Transfer Interest

Lucas Cepeda's time at Colo Colo is nearing its end. According to journalist Daniel Arrieta on TNT Sports, the 22-year-old winger is expected to leave the club after the Superclásico against Universidad de Chile, scheduled for July 12. That match marks the end of the first half of the Chilean season, and the club intends to keep him for the remaining games against Audax Italiano and Universidad Católica.
Cepeda has attracted major interest following a strong run of form for both Colo Colo and the Chilean national team. After being praised by Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni, his market value reportedly jumped from $3 million to $7 million. Colo Colo is aiming to close a deal for that amount and retain a percentage of his rights.
Several clubs have shown interest in signing him, including Brazil’s Vasco da Gama and Gremio, Argentina’s River Plate and Boca Juniors, as well as Bologna, Udinese, and Southampton in Europe.
Despite his rising stock, Cepeda earns a relatively modest salary of around five million Chilean pesos per month. His stats speak for themselves: 54 appearances, 12 goals, and 5 assists in Colo Colo’s first team.
Barring any surprises, the Superclásico could be his farewell match at the Monumental. The club is already preparing for a high-profile transfer.
