FIFA is constantly exploring ways to improve football by considering various rule changes. The latest proposal comes from Pierluigi Collina, the head of FIFA’s refereeing committee.
Details: Collina acknowledged that FIFA has discussed eliminating the possibility of scoring from a rebound after a saved penalty, ensuring that play resumes differently instead.
Quote: "In penalty shootouts after extra time, there are no rebounds. Either you score, or the game restarts with a goal kick. This would also eliminate the theatrical elements that come with it," the Italian stated in an interview with La Repubblica.
Reminder: Collina also recently shared amusing memories from the 2002 World Cup final.
