Coach Bobola Akinfolarin Appointed as Sunshine Stars FC Head Coach Ahead of New NNL Season
The Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) has officially appointed Coach Bobola Akinfolarin as the new Head Coach of Sunshine Stars Football Club, signaling a fresh era for the Akure-based team as they prepare for the upcoming Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The unveiling ceremony was held at the ODSFA headquarters in Akure, with top officials in attendance, including the agency’s Chairman, Mr. Divine Ogbonnaya, Team Manager Tokunbo Akinyelure, and Administrative Secretary Lanre Abiodun, among others.
Speaking after signing his contract, Coach Akinfolarin expressed his gratitude to the agency for the opportunity and vowed to guide Sunshine Stars FC back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
“This is home for me, and I fully understand what Sunshine Stars mean to the people of Ondo State,” Akinfolarin said. “I appreciate the trust the agency has placed in me, and I’m ready to give my all to bring the club back to where it belongs — the NPFL.”
Before taking on this new role, Coach Akinfolarin served as the Technical Director of Sunshine Queens FC. He also gained valuable experience as an assistant coach under some of Nigeria’s top tacticians, including Bala Abubakar, Kennedy Boboye, and Kayode Olujoungbe.
Sunshine Stars FC are set to kick off their new campaign this weekend with an away fixture against Edel FC in Awka.
