Club World Cup: Wydad Gears Up for Group G Showdown with Full Roster

Wydad Casablanca are set to compete at the expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States with a full squad, including three vital loanees, as they look to bounce back from a disappointing domestic campaign.
Loanees Cleared for Club World Cup Duty
Reports confirm that El Mehdi El Moubarik (Al Ain), Thembinkosi Lorch (Mamelodi Sundowns), and Cassius Mailula (Toronto FC) will be eligible to play for Wydad in the global tournament. Each player’s loan deal includes a clause permitting participation before they return to their respective parent clubs.
New Coach, New Hope
Under interim coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem, Wydad have shown promising signs of revival following the departure of South African tactician Rolani Mokwena. Fans are hopeful that this new chapter will translate into strong performances on the world stage.
A Tough Group Awaits
With Manchester City, Juventus, and Al Ain as opponents in Group G—possibly one of the most competitive groups in the tournament—Wydad is up against a formidable task.
As three-time CAF Champions League winners, Wydad will proudly represent Morocco, aiming to restore their prestige against global heavyweights this summer.
