Club World Cup Clash: Konaté Starts as Espérance Face LAFC Showdown

Espérance de Tunis have confirmed that rising Ivorian star Abdramane Konaté will start against Los Angeles FC in their crucial second match of Group D at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
A Test of Character After Flamengo Setback
The match is set for Friday, June 20 at Geodis Park in Nashville, with kickoff at 10 p.m. GMT. After falling short in their opening clash against Flamengo, the Tunisian giants must secure a positive result to revive their hopes of advancing.
Espérance’s task won’t be easy against an LAFC side featuring global names such as Olivier Giroud, Hugo Lloris, and Denis Bouanga.
Konaté to Shine on the Big Stage
Konaté, who joined Espérance in the summer of 2024 from San in Ivory Coast, has been one of the club’s revelations this season. Nicknamed “The Young Elephant,” the 20-year-old midfielder has recorded 2 goals and 2 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.
He showed promise during his second-half cameo against Flamengo, injecting energy and sharpness into the midfield. His performance has now earned him a place in the starting lineup for this vital encounter.
