On the eve of the showdown, all participants were notified about potential weather conditions that could impact the match.

Details: Today, Milan’s Inter and Brazil’s Fluminense are set to face off in the Club World Cup Round of 16. However, the match is at risk due to a storm warning in Charlotte, South Carolina, where the game is scheduled to take place at Bank of America Stadium.

This is far from the first time weather has made headlines at this tournament: many players and coaches have complained about the conditions—sometimes it’s unbearably hot, other times tornadoes and hurricanes pose a real threat.

Inter head coach Cristian Chivu addressed the issue at a press conference, expressing trust in the tournament organizers while emphasizing the need for timely decisions:

“I hope that if a decision to reschedule is made, it comes before the match starts. Getting all the way to the stadium only to learn the game might be postponed—that’s a real problem.

To play matches like this, you need to prepare properly: eat right and stay hydrated at the right times. That’s essential if you want to last 120 minutes in this kind of heat. I hope the organizers have the sense of responsibility to make a timely call, because I’ve also read the weather warnings.

We’re ready to fight, just as we have been from the very beginning,” the Nerazzurri boss stated.

Earlier in the tournament, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca faced a similar issue when his side’s match against Benfica was suspended for nearly an hour and a half.

Reminder: Teammates had to be separated. The Inter vs River Plate match ended in an epic brawl
