Classic banter: Famous pizzeria trolls Tottenham after FA Cup exit
Tottenham suffered a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round, crashing out of the competition. The result didn’t go unnoticed, as a well-known pizza chain took the opportunity to poke fun at Spurs.
Details: Global pizza brand Domino’s reacted to Tottenham’s elimination by highlighting the sheer number of pizzas they have sold since the club last won a trophy.
Quote: "We have sold 78,427,391 pizzas since Spurs last won a trophy," the company posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Adding to the banter, Specsavers joined in with a joke of their own, claiming that since Tottenham’s last silverware, they have conducted 43,324,823,013,324,734 eye tests.
Tottenham’s FA Cup exit to Aston Villa could significantly weaken Ange Postecoglou’s position at the club, with reports suggesting he may face the risk of being sacked.
For now, the club’s hierarchy continues to back the Australian, as evidenced by their activity in the final hours of the transfer window. Postecoglou is now focused on getting the best out of new signing Mathys Tel.
Reminder: Tottenham’s league form has also been concerning. Postecoglou’s side currently sits 14th in the table, just 10 points clear of the relegation zone.
