Clashes during the match between TP Mazembe and FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo at Kamalondo Stadium in DR Congo

This heated Lubumbashi derby in Linafoot Ligue 1 (DR Congo championship) took place this Sunday, 8 March 2026. However, it was interrupted by scenes of violence. FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo supporters started brawls.

A group of supporters stormed the pitch to perform fetishistic rituals as the two teams were preparing for the second half of the match. This set the entire Kamalondo stadium ablaze. During the clashes, seats in the stands were vandalised and several supporters were injured. The police had to intervene, using tear gas to disperse the supporters. The match was interrupted and there is still complete uncertainty about when it will resume.
