Chukwueze’s Fulham Brilliance Sparks Frustration Among Nigerian Fans
Samuel Chukwueze’s superb late assist for Fulham has prompted mixed reactions from Nigerian fans, many of whom questioned why he cannot replicate such form for the Super Eagles.
The winger came off the bench in the 64th minute and immediately changed the game, delivering a precise cross in the 84th minute that Raul Jimenez finished to seal a 1-0 win over Sunderland at Craven Cottage. In just 26 minutes, Chukwueze created five chances, made four key passes, completed the most dribbles and produced two big opportunities, including the decisive assist.
Nigerians online reacted sharply, contrasting his display with recent national team performances. One fan wrote, "Change that jersey to a Super Eagles jersey and he starts playing like a fool," while another asked, "Where was this against Congo?" Others sympathised, noting the challenges he faces with the national team but still expecting more consistency.
The win lifted Fulham to 14th, with fellow Nigerians Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi also impressing. Manager Marco Silva will be pleased with Chukwueze’s impact, which ultimately decided the tight match.
