Chukwueze Mourns Mother as Back-to-Back Family Tragedies Shake Super Eagles of Nigeria

Super Eagles and Fulham winger Samuel Chukwueze is grieving the death of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Chukwueze, after a brief illness, his family has confirmed. The sad news was shared by his brother, Chukwueze David, who posted emotional tributes on Instagram, honouring their late mother’s memory.

The loss comes at a difficult time for Nigerian football, with the Super Eagles hit by consecutive personal tragedies. Just two days earlier, midfielder and captain Wilfred Ndidi lost his father in a road accident in Delta State, drawing condolences nationwide, including from President Bola Tinubu.

Chukwueze, currently on loan at Fulham from AC Milan, has scored three goals and provided four assists this season. He also played a key role at the 2025 AFCON, where Nigeria won bronze.
