Chivas Guadalajara may leave Estadio Akron next season as preparations begin for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to FOX Sports, the club is considering playing its home matches at Estadio Jalisco starting with the Apertura 2025, as their current venue undergoes significant renovations.

Akron is scheduled to host four World Cup matches and must meet FIFA’s infrastructure standards. Planned upgrades include a new FIFA Pro-certified pitch, a state-of-the-art drainage system, and various structural and aesthetic improvements to align with the tournament’s requirements.

Although no final decision has been made, Estadio Jalisco stands out as the most viable option due to its proximity and Chivas' historical ties to the venue. The team previously called the Jalisco home, and could once again share the stadium with crosstown rivals Atlas during the renovation period.

This potential move comes as Chivas struggles in the Clausura 2025. With their playoff hopes limited to a Play-In berth, the club hopes the temporary change of venue won’t disrupt their ambitions. An official announcement on the matter is expected soon.
