Kermit Erasmus, a former player for the Orlando Pirates and the South African national side, Bafana Bafana, has officially joined Chippa United. The 34-year-old forward, who hasn't had a team since his Orlando Pirates contract expired in May 2024, offers a wealth of experience to Chippa United, a Betway Premiership outfit.

Erasmus, who trained with the Chilli Boys since late December, was confirmed as a new addition to the squad. Head coach Thabo September and assistant coach Mabhuti Khanyeza are optimistic about his impact, citing his extensive domestic and international career, which includes stints with Stade Rennais, RC Lens, Feyenoord, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Erasmus has a strong history in football, having won three league titles and several domestic cups. He began his professional career in 2007 at SuperSport United’s youth academy. He has also played for South Africa’s national team, making him a great addition to Chippa United.

Chippa United, who recently saw forward Elmo Kambindu move to AmaZulu FC, view Erasmus as an important player in their effort to finish in the top eight. His leadership and ability to score goals will be key as the team gets ready for their next game against Marumo Gallants.

Erasmus’s return to Gqeberha, where he grew up playing in the Northern Areas Football Association, is a meaningful moment in his successful career. Fans are excited to see him help Chippa United perform well in the Betway Premiership.
