Saudi Pro League player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shared the harrowing story of a violent robbery at his home in Barcelona, which occurred in front of his fiancée and children. He recounted the ordeal in an interview with The Athletic.
In the summer of 2022, at least four armed men broke into Aubameyang's house. The intruders assaulted the footballer and, under threats to his family, forced him to hand over jewelry and watches. They also stole his Audi A3. During the attack, one of the robbers struck Aubameyang in the face with a metal object, fracturing his jaw.
Although the incident happened a while ago, Aubameyang and his children still struggle to move past it. His sons remain fearful of being alone.
“I was always thinking about this. I did so many nights like this: not sleeping at all, just thinking about that s**t. You have some nightmares. I’m a guy who, if I’m not sleeping well, I’m not going to give (a football team) what you expect from me, I’m not going to be at my best… Every time the kids are alone, they are scared,” Aubameyang admitted.
In the summer of 2024, the Gabonese forward joined Saudi side Al-Qadsiah. So far, he has played 13 matches in the Saudi Pro League, scoring seven goals.
