With the likely departure of left-back Paseka Mako from Orlando Pirates at the end of the season, he’s been linked to several clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs. But former Buccaneers defender Innocent Chikoya doesn’t see this as a smart move.

Details: Chikoya expressed that Mako would be a solid signing only if he were playing regularly for Orlando Pirates. At the moment, the defender might struggle to fit into Nasreddine Nabi’s squad.

Quote: "If I’m signing a 31-year-old player, he has to be someone who’s getting minutes, because I’m looking for experience. If, at his age, Paseka was playing consistently week in and week out, he could be a great asset for the Chiefs. But if you haven’t been playing and you move to a bigger club that’s trying to overtake Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates... it’s going to be difficult for Paseka.

Remember, right now both the Chiefs and the Pirates want just one thing — to dethrone Sundowns. If Pirates are letting him go, then why should he be a fit for the Chiefs? The Chiefs are under huge pressure to surpass Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates," Chikoya told KickOff.
