Chicho Salas Linked to Sport Boys, But Talks Stall Amid Coaching Search

Guillermo “Chicho” Salas emerged as a possible candidate to take over at Sport Boys following Cristian Paulucci’s surprise departure, but negotiations have reportedly stalled. According to journalist Gustavo Peralta via L1 MAX, the Peruvian coach was considered by the club, but discussions did not progress and the board is now pursuing a different coaching profile.
Sport Boys, one of the standout teams in the 2025 Liga 1 Apertura, saw Paulucci step down after activating a release clause to accept an offer abroad. The club thanked him publicly for his professionalism and announced their search for a new manager.
Salas, who led Alianza Lima to the 2022 league title and most recently coached César Vallejo in 2024, was floated as an option. However, despite initial interest, no agreement was reached.
The former defender remains without a team, hoping for another chance to return to the Liga 1 spotlight. Meanwhile, Sport Boys will continue their coaching search as they look to maintain momentum in the tournament.
