Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been nominated for the 2025 The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper Award, making her the only Nigerian on this year’s shortlist.

The 23-year-old joins a star-studded list that includes Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany and Gotham FC), Cata Coll (Spain and Barcelona), Christiane Endler (Chile and Olympique Lyonnais), Hannah Hampton (England and Chelsea), Anna Moorhouse (England and Orlando Pride), and Phallon Tullis-Joyce (USA and Manchester United).

Nnadozie’s nomination comes as no surprise after a stellar season with Paris FC, where her penalty-saving brilliance and commanding displays stood out during the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Her performances earned her widespread recognition before sealing a move to Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this season.

While Nnadozie celebrates global recognition, Nigeria’s male stars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman were missing from the FIFA The Best Men’s Player category — a development that has sparked debate among fans given their strong performances in Europe.

For Nnadozie, this milestone adds to her growing reputation as one of Africa’s finest goalkeepers. She also impressed at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, earning plaudits for her leadership and skill.

Voting for The Best FIFA Football Awards is open to national team captains, coaches, journalists, and fans. If she wins, Nnadozie will become the first African goalkeeper ever to receive the prestigious honour.
