The World Blitz and Rapid Chess Championship in New York has been surrounded by controversies. Just as Magnus Carlsen’s boycott of the event seemed to settle, another unusual incident has emerged.

Details: In the Rapid Chess tournament, Russian grandmaster Daniil Dubov was handed a forfeit loss in his match against American Hans Niemann for missing the game. The reason? Dubov simply overslept.

Niemann accused Dubov of cowardice and took to social media platform X, stating he was willing to play Dubov under any conditions, even offering to cover his travel and accommodation expenses.

Reminder: Previously, Magnus Carlsen was disqualified from the Blitz Chess Championship for violating the dress code by wearing jeans to the tournament. However, the International Chess Federation later relaxed its dress code rules.
