Chelsea seriously considering signing a center-back in January

Chelsea, despite the depth of their squad, are planning targeted reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Details. According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is seriously exploring the possibility of signing another center-back this month.

Within the club, there are active discussions about acquiring Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace. However, completing the deal during the winter window will be challenging, as the England international has 18 months remaining on his current contract with Palace.

Additionally, Chelsea retains an option to recall Trevoh Chalobah early from his loan spell at Crystal Palace, which could influence their plans.

Reminder. Last season, Chelsea’s center-back Wesley Fofana missed a significant portion of the campaign due to injuries, and it seems the situation is repeating itself.

According to Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, Fofana is likely sidelined for the remainder of the season due to injury.
