Chelsea ready to help Everton overcome financial problems
Now Everton are in a far from healthy financial situation, which, as previously reported, may even lead to the bankruptcy of the club. And here Chelsea are ready to lend a helping hand to the Toffees. But, not for nothing.
New Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is looking for reinforcements for the attacking line, and according to the Daily Mail, the Italian has found one in Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The 27-year-old is believed to be a cheaper alternative to RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško, who is also being tracked by Arsenal in London.
It is not yet known what sums are involved in the case of Calvert-Lewin, but it is known that Everton intend to retain the forward by offering him a new contract. The striker's current agreement runs until the summer of 2025.
Despite his injury history, Calvert-Lewin underwent a training camp in Germany last summer which helped him build up his fitness ahead of last season, and he has featured 38 times, often playing as the lone striker in Sean Dyche's side fighting for a Premier League place, and has scored eight goals.
