Chelsea close to signing Rennes young talent Jeremy Jacquet
Chelsea have taken a major step towards strengthening their defensive line.
Details: According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have agreed personal terms with centre-back Jeremy Jacquet, who is the club's top target for this position.
The Frenchman has already given the green light to the move, and the contract is ready, but negotiations with Rennes are still ongoing. The French club values their defender at around €65 million, which could become the biggest sale in Rennes' history.
At the moment, Chelsea's offer is below the asking price, but the Londoners are actively working on the deal. Club representatives have already made a business trip to France to push negotiations forward.
It's worth noting that this season the French defender has played seventeen matches for Rennes, without registering a goal or an assist. Transfermarkt values him at €20 million.
Reminder: Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho missed a golden chance in the Premier League match against Brentford, failing to score into an open net from just two meters out.
