Chelsea and Manchester United are battling for Sheffield Wednesday's wonderkid, but the London club is now edging closer to sealing the deal.
Details: According to The Athletic, Chelsea are nearing the completion of a transfer for 17-year-old left-back Yisa Alao from Sheffield Wednesday. At the same time, Manchester United are still negotiating with the talented youngster.
The total value of the deal, including bonuses, could significantly exceed £1 million, though the initial transfer fee is set at a six-figure sum.
Alao is a product of Sheffield Wednesday's academy and made his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup last August at just 16 years old. In January, he featured for the first time in both the Championship and the FA Cup.
It's worth noting that this season he has made only five appearances for his club across all competitions and has yet to register a goal or assist.
Reminder: Three key Chelsea players want to extend their contracts on improved terms.
