Chelsea defender Renato Veiga, after a disappointing six months at Stamford Bridge, is seeking to leave the club. However, Chelsea is determined not to part with him without financial gain.

Details: According to The Athletic, Chelsea plans to start negotiations at £29 million and will demand a sell-on clause as part of any deal. Having purchased Veiga from Basel in the summer of 2024 for £11.8 million, the London club aims to net a profit of £16 million, excluding salary considerations.

Notably, Chelsea is unwilling to send Veiga out on loan and will only agree to a permanent transfer. Although Chelsea did not initially plan to sell Veiga during the transfer window, the player is eager for more regular first-team opportunities in his preferred position as a central defender.

Reminder: Veiga has been an unused substitute in 12 Premier League matches and last appeared in the game against Tottenham on December 8. He has been more utilized in the Conference League, playing every match without substitution, scoring two goals, and providing one assist.
