Super Eagles coach Éric Chelle has singled out Alex Iwobi as the quiet engine behind Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations run after a 4–0 win over Mozambique booked a quarter-final place in Fes. While goals and assists from Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen grabbed attention, Chelle stressed that Iwobi’s intelligence and control shaped Nigeria’s rhythm.
After the match, Chelle said Iwobi “has a big IQ for football… he sees the game before the other players… I’m very proud of him and the team too.”
Playing alongside Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka, the 29-year-old linked defence and attack, setting the platform for Nigeria’s stars to flourish. Nigeria now prepare for a quarter-final against Algeria in Marrakech.
