Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has met privately with National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko in Abuja amid growing speculation about his future.

The closed-door meeting, held Tuesday at the NSC office, comes as Chelle has reportedly attracted interest from national teams including Algeria. His current contract with the Nigeria Football Federation runs until early 2027.

NSC Director General Bukola Olopade confirmed that extending Chelle’s deal is part of the commission’s 2026 plans.

“We have a list of many things we want to achieve in 2026, and extending Chelle’s contract is also on that list… He’s not going anywhere because he’s happy here,” Olopade said.

Though no renewal has been announced, the talks suggest Nigeria wants stability in the technical crew.
