Cheikhou Kouyaté Refuses to Retire, Eyes AFCON Comeback
Despite being without a club since leaving Nottingham Forest, former Senegal national team midfielder Cheikhou Kouyaté has no plans to retire. The 35-year-old made his stance clear during an appearance on TFM's Quartier Général show.
“I’m Not Done Yet”
Kouyaté addressed speculation about his future, saying: "I don’t want to join a club just for the sake of it. Respect is earned. I’m doing well, I’m with my family, and I continue to work. I hope to find a club where I’ll have peace of mind."
His goal is clear—to secure a new club and fight for a return to the Senegalese squad ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
A Career of Dedication and Experience
Kouyaté, who was born in Dakar, began playing football with ASC Yeggo before relocating to Belgium in 2006 to play for FC Brussels. He has participated in 570 games over his career, contributing 19 assists and 28 goals.
Will Kouyaté be able to find the ideal team with his extensive expertise to spark his career again and play for the Lions of Teranga in one final AFCON match?
