Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly leaves French Ligue 1 for Major League Soccer
The Senegalese player joins Vancouver from FC Metz.
A new chapter begins for the African champion. He will now continue his career far from Africa and Europe. He will play for Vancouver in MLS in Canada. The 26-year-old Senegalese player has signed a long-term contract with the Canadian club.
"Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Thursday that the club has acquired Senegalese international striker Cheikh Sabaly via a transfer from French Ligue 1 club FC Metz. Sabaly has signed a contract through the 2028-29 Major League Soccer season, with an option for the 2029-30 season. The 26-year-old will officially join the club's MLS roster pending receipt of his international transfer certificate, visa, work permit and medical certificate," Vancouver announced.
With FC Metz, Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly has made 122 appearances, scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists. The 26-year-old Senegalese player has been involved in three promotions to Ligue 1 (2019, 2023, 2025).
