According to Diario AS, Real Madrid is set to disrupt Arsenal’s plans to sign Martín Zubimendi.
Details: The Madrid club is actively searching for reinforcements in midfield ahead of Xabi Alonso’s first season at the helm. Zubimendi is viewed by the board as an excellent option for Los Blancos.
Despite the player having an agreement with Arsenal, the transfer can only be finalized in July, which opens a window of opportunity for the capital club.
Madrid is not ready to trigger the release clause, as Arsenal has done, and will instead try to negotiate a lower fee, sweetening the deal by offering one or two players on a free loan.
It’s worth noting, according to the source, that Zubimendi would prefer to continue his career in Spain, giving Real Madrid a real chance to hijack the deal.
