Charlton Athletic Sign Nigeria Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo on Season-Long Loan from Wrexham
Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of Nigeria international goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo on a season-long loan from Wrexham.
The 24-year-old has one year remaining on his Wrexham contract but will spend the upcoming campaign at Charlton in search of regular first-team football after falling down the pecking order at the Welsh club.
Okonkwo initially joined Wrexham on loan from Arsenal in 2023 and played a key role as the club secured back-to-back promotions. His move was made permanent in 2024.
Since joining Wrexham, the Nigerian goalkeeper has made 121 appearances and kept 46 clean sheets, establishing himself as a reliable presence between the posts.
"Arthur is a further reflection of the calibre of player we're attracting during our second season back in the Championship," Charlton managing director James Rodwell told the club website, external.
"He's an outstanding goalkeeper with proven ability, and we're excited to see the impact he can make for the club over the course of the campaign."
