Charlton Athletic have confirmed that goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has been invited to join the Super Eagles squad for Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The English Championship club announced the news on social media, confirming that the 24-year-old goalkeeper is set to join up with Nigeria for their September fixtures.
Okonkwo could now make his competitive debut for the Super Eagles when Nigeria begin their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign later this month.
Nigeria will host Madagascar in Uyo on September 23 before travelling to face Guinea-Bissau four days later. The two matches will mark the start of the Super Eagles’ bid to secure qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Charlton Athletic goalkeeper currently has two caps for Nigeria after making his international debut during the Super Eagles’ successful Unity Cup campaign at The Valley in the summer of 2026.
